The fishing derby was a lot of fun, even though the fish weren't biting! As the wind got colder, people started to leave... We were down to about ten boys there at the very end, and Nathan from Den 5 came running with the first, last, ugliest, biggest, smallest (etc etc) fish caught by a Cub. Since he was the only cub to catch a fish, he wins ALL categories! Of course we gave the prizes out anyway; we just drew names.
Thanks to Geri and Joey for their effort in making this event a success! And, thanks to all the parents who braved wind, rain, hooks, bait, and fish scales!

District Pinewood Derby
The District Championships were this past weekend. We're so proud of the boys that were there to represent our pack: Will and Christopher from Den 2, James and Seth from Den 8, and John from Den 4!
The competition was fierce with so many boys participating, and the top ten winners from each division were announced!
Will took 7th place in the Webelos division! Way to GO Will!
Seth took 2nd place in the Wolves division! An impressive first ever Pinewood Car! Good Job Seth!

FISHING DERBY
We're going fishing! We will go fishing at Marsh Lake at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 28th. Bring your gear and your bait, and DO YOUR BEST to catch the biggest, the most, or just the UGLIEST fish in the lake! We will share and trade bait, so keep that in mind as you get your things together!
If you do not have your own pole, please join us anyway! A limited number of poles are available; be prepared to share. We can always put together a cane pole (no reel) if need be!
It's $4.00 per scout (includes fishing, one drink, and a patch!)
Adults who want to fish will pay $5.00; adults who do not fish are FREE!
Pay Geri Mancuso, Fishing Derby Chair at the lake that day, or go ahead and pay at the pack meeting March 24. Make checks out to Pack 969!

What's Happening in Den 2
The Webelos in Den 2 had a busy first year. We started it off hiking in Harbin Park and earned our Forester Badge. Then, we had our first campout in October. It was cold and rainy, but the boys had a great time. Steven, Christian, and Dylan had a great time because they “made hamburger foil dinners and roasted marshmallows” and “got to make fires.” We took a night hike and all the boys earned their Fireman’s Chit and Outdoorsman Badge at the campout. Next, while working on our Citizen Badge, we visited the Fairfield Justice Center and took a tour of the Courthouse, the Jail and the Police Station. We got to meet Judge Joyce Campbell, checked out the jail cells and learned how the Dispatcher/911 service works. Ask any of the boys in Den 2 if they ever want to “sit under the clock” in the court room. After our tours, we went to Fairfield Pizza to eat dinner (we got to make our own pizzas). YUM…YUM…YUM. Then we delivered the canned goods the Pack collected to One Way Farm. The boys really enjoyed this outing and hope to perform another service project for the children at One Way Farm soon. In December, we earned our Fitness Badge and went climbing at Climb Time in Blue Ash. Christopher, Dylan and Steven all thought that this was a “cool” and “fun” time; we “ate pizza, climbed walls and played ping pong.” On a Monday off of school in January, our Den earned their Aquanaut Badge at the Miami Rec. Center. They all worked very hard for 2 hours in the morning on their swimming and life saving skills. After a short break for lunch at McDonalds, we returned to the Miami Rec. Center for an afternoon of Family Fun Day. All the boys really loved sliding on the huge slide, competing with each other on the rolling log, and kayaking. Dalton, Christian, Jayson and Isaac (our Den Chief) even learned how to Scuba Dive! Jayson says that “everyone who likes to swim has to come to Miami University to swim on Family Fun Day!” In March, we went to the Fairfield Lane Library and earned our Communicator Badge working in the Computer Lab. We have our first 2-night Den Camp-out at the end of March, where we will achieve our Readyman and Naturalist Badges. We are all looking forward to summer camp. One of Will’s favorite activities is camping at Cub World and he encourages all boys in the Pack to attend this year!
We still need volunteers!
Consider this, you own a new car. A person you vaguely know wants to take your car for one hour a week. Now, do you hand them the keys, wave Good-Bye, and say “See you in an hour!” Of course not! Is your son any less important to you than a car? Your child is your most prized treasure.
We’re not asking you to make a lifetime commitment – but just to commit to helping your son and his friends with a weekly activity for one school year.
Get in touch with Shelley Rapach, Committee Chair to volunteer!
